TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Space Hardware): Designing and testing board-level electrical hardware and avionics for spacecraft, robotic systems, and space defense programs with an accent on PCB design, manufacturing integration, and system-level hardware/software interfaces. Focus on bringing up and debugging PCBAs, resolving integration and environmental test issues, and making practical trade-offs across reliability, thermal behavior, manufacturability, and mission requirements.

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite. Travel to test sites, including Mojave and the greater Los Angeles area, is expected based on program needs.

Salary: $125,000–$160,000 per year, plus potential equity.

Company

hirify.global is an early-stage, vertically integrated space and defense company developing hardware for low-Earth-orbit missions, including spacecraft, satellite systems, and in-orbit servicing robotics.

What you will do

  • Own PCB and avionics design from architecture and schematic capture through layout, fabrication release, assembly, bring-up, and testing.
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts using Altium or similar ECAD tools, including stackups, constraints, fabrication notes, assembly drawings, and release packages.
  • Make board-level trade-offs involving electrical performance, manufacturability, reliability, thermal behavior, packaging, component availability, testability, cost, and schedule.
  • Integrate electrical hardware with mechanical, firmware, software, systems, propulsion, and manufacturing teams.
  • Apply DFM, DFA, and DFT principles; collaborate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Bring up and debug PCBAs, support integration and environmental testing, investigate failures, and maintain engineering documentation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related hardware field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on PCB design experience with Altium or a similar ECAD tool.
  • At least 1 year of full-time experience at an early-stage hardware startup; internship-only experience does not qualify.
  • Experience owning PCB designs through schematic capture, layout, fabrication release, assembly support, board bring-up, and test.
  • Hands-on PCBA debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, and test fixtures.
  • U.S. citizenship or other qualifying U.S. work authorization is required; the role is subject to ITAR requirements and may require eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.

Culture & Benefits

  • Close collaboration across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, integration, and test disciplines.
  • Broad ownership in an early-stage hardware startup where requirements and interfaces evolve rapidly.
  • Platinum medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee premiums paid and 90% of dependent premiums paid.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching up to 3.5%, stock option eligibility, and qualifying relocation support.
  • Paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, office snacks and drinks, and regular team events.
  • Typical onsite hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility for mission schedules.
