TL;DR
Avionics Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, testing, and integrating electrical systems for optical and high-power laser satellite payloads with an accent on power management, control systems, signal processing, and space qualification. Location: On-site in San Carlos, California, United States
Salary: $110,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do
- Design and test electrical hardware for laser and optical subsystems, including power management, control systems, and signal processing.
- Develop schematics, PCB designs, and harness diagrams for laser systems and satellite subsystems.
- Integrate and validate electrical systems with detectors, sensors, laser drivers, and other optical components.
- Debug hardware and support environmental testing, including thermal-vacuum, vibration, and electromagnetic interference tests.
- Collaborate with optical, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers on system-level integration.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to design reviews, requirements, specifications, and test plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1–5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in aerospace, satellite, or optical systems.
- Experience with circuit simulation and analysis using LTspice and spreadsheets.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, soldering stations, and laser drivers.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as Altium or OrCAD, plus strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with high-power laser control systems and satellite electrical systems.
- Familiarity with space qualification standards and thermal-vacuum, vibration, or radiation testing.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development for optical and electrical control systems.
