TL;DR
Electrical Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and taking electrical flight hardware from concept through prototyping, qualification, and production with an accent on schematics, electrical analysis, component selection, PCBA layout, and hands-on testing. Focus on iterating early-revision hardware, defining functional and environmental qualification plans, implementing design-for-manufacturing feedback, and optimizing aerospace products for reliability and cost.

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements.

Annual salary: $105,000–$135,000 USD

What you will do

  • Design and prototype new electrical hardware for aerospace flight applications.
  • Create electrical schematics, perform analysis, select and de-rate components, and develop PCBA layouts.
  • Prototype, bring up, bench-test, debug, and rapidly iterate early-revision hardware.
  • Define and execute functional and environmental qualification plans with test engineering.
  • Collaborate with build engineers to ensure manufacturability and implement DFM feedback.
  • Manage drawing revisions, BOM structures, part configurations, and ongoing reliability and cost improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience with electrical design involving power, filtering, logic, software or firmware, and production constraints.
  • Experience with electrical schematic layout, component selection, and simulation.
  • Hands-on debugging experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Ability to apply first principles to challenge and simplify requirements.
  • Practical, independent, creative approach to building, testing, and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Must meet the U.S. person requirements defined by ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD, or other qualification and certification frameworks.
