VP, Software Engineering (Payments)

What you will do

• Define and own the multi-year technical roadmap for payments and money movement systems, including ACH, RTP, FedNow, SWIFT, ledgers, and reconciliation platforms.
• Set architecture and engineering standards for high availability, fault tolerance, idempotency, exactly-once delivery, auditability, and financial data integrity.
• Lead and scale an organization of 400+ engineers across core rails, ledger, fraud and risk, reconciliation, and partner integration teams.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Treasury, and enterprise technology leaders on strategy, regulatory posture, resiliency, and platform implementation.
• Own payment success rates, latency, settlement accuracy, incident response, observability, and recovery standards.
• Represent the Technology organization in executive forums, steering committees, and board-level reporting.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in payments or financial services infrastructure.
• 5+ years leading large engineering organizations and managers of managers.
• Demonstrated, specific money movement domain knowledge is required.
• Hands-on fluency with payment rails such as ACH, Fedwire, RTP/FedNow, SEPA, SWIFT, Visa, Mastercard, and real-time payments.
• Experience scaling high-throughput payment systems with strict consistency and durability requirements, and delivering complex multi-year engineering programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field, with executive-level communication and stakeholder influence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience at a payments company, neobank, card issuer or acquirer, or large-scale fintech.
• Exposure to RTGS, ISO 20022 migration, cross-border payments, embedded finance, or BaaS platforms.
• Experience with regulatory audits or remediation involving CFPB, OCC, or FinCEN.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, platform modernization, data and AI programs, or core banking and payments migrations.
