AI Research Engineer (LLM)

Location: Must be based in San Francisco (On-site)

Salary: $250,000 – $450,000 per year + equity

What you will do

• Design and execute controlled SFT and RL experiments to isolate the impact of datasets on model behavior.
• Measure how specific data sources shift model capability, generalization, and alignment.
• Build public evaluations and develop new data types to push the AI frontier.
• Publish external-facing research, technical reports, and blog posts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to iterate on data quality based on experimental results.

Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site in San Francisco.
• Strong familiarity with LLM training and evaluation methodologies.
• Ability to design lightweight experiments and extract actionable insights from complex results.
• Comfort working across diverse domains including finance, software engineering, and policy.
• Bias toward building and experimentation over pure theorizing.
• Genuine obsession with how data structure and quality drive model behavior.
