Engineering Leader (Robotics)

Salary: $250,000–$350,000 base salary per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and lead a blended engineering organization spanning hardware, software, AI systems, and deployment-facing product work.
• Hire, onboard, develop, and retain individual contributors and engineering managers while establishing ownership, feedback loops, and career paths.
• Set planning cadences, milestones, decision forums, operating metrics, and execution reviews across complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Drive initiatives from definition through field validation, launch, and post-deployment learning, with visible quality, reliability, and safety risks.
• Connect research, software, hardware, operations, product, and deployment feedback into clear engineering and research priorities.
• Translate leadership vision into execution context covering goals, tradeoffs, risks, timelines, and resource constraints.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in hardware, software, robotics, or complex systems engineering.
• At least 4 years managing engineers and at least 1 year managing managers.
• Experience hiring, scaling, retaining, and developing engineering teams through rapid growth and ambiguity.
• Strong planning, accountability, risk management, execution review, readiness tracking, and systemic blocker-removal skills.
• Practical understanding of tightly coupled AI or software, hardware, and real-world deployment environments.
• Experience taking research prototypes, complex hardware-software systems, or physical AI products toward dependable deployment and coordinating with researchers, engineers, operations, executives, and customers.

Nice to have

• Robotics experience or a background in autonomous vehicles, AR/VR, drones, consumer electronics, smart devices, hardware-software platforms, or AI-enabled manufacturing.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations through multiple management layers.
• Experience building deployment-feedback loops that improve research, models, products, or platform reliability.
• Exposure to ML training infrastructure, model serving, data systems, real-time systems, edge deployment, hardware-software interfaces, or complex physical-product launches.
