TL;DR
Senior Manager, Hardware Engineering (Robotics): Leading the design, development, validation, and production delivery of electrical and electronic systems for an autonomous robotic platform with an accent on hardware engineering execution, team leadership, and cross-functional integration. Focus on designing embedded electronics, sensors, power systems, and motor control, while solving manufacturing readiness, reliability, and technical risk challenges.

Location: Redwood City, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $214,498–$255,005 annually, plus equity

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of hardware engineers, including performance management, career development, hiring, and workforce planning.
  • Manage priorities, project assignments, resources, technical reviews, and execution for hardware programs aligned with product objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for the design, development, integration, and validation of electrical and electronic systems for autonomous robots.
  • Coordinate integration across hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.
  • Identify technical and program risks, establish mitigation plans, and drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Support manufacturing readiness by ensuring designs meet cost, quality, reliability, and production requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical, robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar hardware systems.
  • 3+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience leading engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering hardware products from concept through production and leading cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Strong technical background in hardware design, PCB development, embedded electronics, sensors, power systems, motor control, and system integration.
  • Strong project planning, prioritization, execution, communication, stakeholder management, and team-building skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, drones, automotive, or other safety-critical electromechanical products.
  • Experience with manufacturing scale-up, production, international engineering teams, or manufacturing partners.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology or startup environment.
