Focus on performing structural, thermal, and fluid analyses, building and testing flight hardware, and delivering payloads through launch, recovery, and post-flight inspection.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $104,000–$122,000 per year for Engineer I; $119,000–$153,000 per year for Engineer II. Additional incentives may include stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

  • Own payload hardware from concept through design, integration, launch, reentry, recovery, and post-flight teardown.
  • Design mechanisms, structures, thermal and fluid interfaces, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses using hand calculations, simplified models, and FEA.
  • Build, instrument, integrate, and test prototypes and flight hardware.
  • Coordinate interfaces with avionics, software, thermal, systems, integration teams, and external partners.
  • Document requirements, interface control documents, procedures, test reports, mission operations, and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • BS or BEng in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong fundamentals in structures, heat transfer, fluids, and dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electromechanical hardware.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. person due to ITAR-controlled technology access.
  • Must work on-site in El Segundo, California.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electromechanical actuators, sensors, thermal control hardware, or fluid control hardware.
  • CAD experience, preferably NX, and FEA experience with Ansys or Nastran.
  • Exposure to aerospace environmental testing, including vibration, TVAC, and EMI/EMC.
  • Customer-facing technical communication experience.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
