TL;DR
Engineering Manager, Hardware Test (Space Hardware): Leading hardware test engineering for autonomous spacecraft and space systems with an accent on environmental testing, test infrastructure, automation, and mission assurance. Focus on executing qualification and acceptance testing across structural, electrical, and fluids hardware, scaling team capacity, and solving complex test-planning and reliability challenges.

Location: Fully onsite in Long Beach, California, United States

Base salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of hardware test engineers.
  • Own component, subsystem, and vehicle-level hardware testing for qualification and acceptance.
  • Establish and operate test laboratories, infrastructure, equipment, and processes for space hardware.
  • Coordinate test activities with design, production, and program stakeholders, including integrated master schedules and engineering reviews.
  • Improve test efficiency, repeatability, automation, capacity planning, and process maturity.
  • Partner with design teams to ensure hardware meets requirements and can be tested against program qualification standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience testing space, developmental, or complex systems across electrical, mechanical, and fluids hardware.
  • Experience with thermal, vacuum, vibration, EMI, and EMC environmental testing.
  • Proficiency in test plans, test equipment design and implementation, test processes, and automation integration.
  • Experience testing space-grade and ESD-sensitive components and assemblies.
  • U.S. work authorization or eligibility under ITAR requirements is required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and implementing test ground support equipment and electrical ground support equipment.
  • Active Department of Defense clearance or ability to obtain one.
