Engineering Manager, Mission Electrical (Space Systems)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; on-site three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $186,000–$202,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop electrical engineers customizing spacecraft platforms for concurrent missions.
• Own electrical deliverables from mission requirements and design adaptation through build, integration, and test.
• Define harness architecture, routing, documentation, and payload electrical interfaces.
• Translate customer and mission requirements into electrical solutions that reuse platform hardware and improve the baseline.
• Review schematics and interface designs, support hardware bring-up, and debug issues to root cause.
• Set engineering standards and partner with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams on integration, manufacturability, and testing.

Requirements

• 8+ years designing, integrating, or testing complex electrical systems operating in harsh environments.
• 2+ years managing or technically leading engineering teams.
• Strong ability to read, understand, and debug electrical designs.
• Experience with spacecraft or complex-system electronics, including avionics, power distribution, harnessing, and hardware/software integration.
• Experience with harness design, documentation, and integration; schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence/OrCAD; and standard laboratory equipment.
• B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Satellite industry or other high-reliability experience, including vibration, thermal vacuum, ESD, or radiation environments.
• Radiation-tolerant electronics design using COTS components.
• Direct customer experience with mission requirements and design reviews.
• Embedded firmware familiarity with C/C++ or embedded Linux.
• Test automation and data analysis using Python or similar tools.
