Automation Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Tywyn, Wales, United Kingdom. Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional out-of-hours support.

What you will do

• Maintain and optimise automated machinery to maximise uptime, efficiency, and reliability.
• Design, programme, configure, test, and integrate automation solutions and new equipment.
• Perform PLC and electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repairs.
• Deliver measurable improvements in production performance, cost-effectiveness, and process logic.
• Collaborate with OEMs and suppliers to improve automation processes.
• Provide technical guidance and training to the wider engineering team.

Requirements

• Proven experience working with automated machinery in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
• Degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in PLC programming with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems.
• Experience with SQL, Python, or Java.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, optimisation, and reliability skills.
• Strong electrical engineering background, including hands-on breakdown support and fault-finding.

Nice to have

• Experience managing automation or engineering projects.
• Experience developing and upskilling engineering team members.
