TL;DR
Senior Hardware Test Engineer (Robotics): Defining and executing component-, subsystem-, and whole-robot hardware tests for HMND‑01 humanoid robots with an accent on electromechanical performance, production verification, and test traceability. Focus on designing pass/fail criteria, investigating failures, specifying fixtures and production rigs, and connecting test data with design improvements.
Location: UK, London; on-site
Company
hirify.global develops commercially scalable and safe hirify.global robots, including the HMND‑01 platform for real industrial environments.
What you will do
Own the hardware test methodology for HMND‑01 components, robot subsystems, and complete hirify.global robots.
Define and execute functional, performance, stress, integration, motion, balance, manipulation, thermal, and failure-mode tests.
Bring up new hardware revisions, characterize performance against design intent, investigate failures, identify root causes, and verify fixes.
Document test methods, results, data requirements, pass/fail criteria, and production traceability linked to unit serial numbers.
Translate manual methods into automation specifications and define requirements for production fixtures, jigs, test beds, in-process checks, and final acceptance tests.
Partner with Test Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, Supply Chain Quality, and hardware design teams to create a closed feedback loop from test and production data to design.
Requirements
5+ years of hardware test engineering experience with hands-on testing of complex electromechanical systems such as robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar.
Strong understanding of test theory, test design, and pass/fail criteria definition, including writing executable test specifications.
Ability to read electrical schematics, use a multimeter and oscilloscope, and reason about basic power and signal integrity.
Familiarity with hardware production operations, including flow, takt, work instructions, and traveler documentation.
Experience with test and task tracking systems such as Jira, X-Ray, TestRail, or similar.
Ability to influence test station, rig, and equipment design through clear requirements and partnership rather than ownership.
Systems-thinking approach connecting component-level issues with full-robot behavior.
Nice to have
Robotics experience, especially with serial-link manipulators or legged systems.
Hands-on mechanical or electrical test rig and fixture design experience.
Python or similar experience for ad-hoc data analysis and lightweight test automation.
CAD experience with SolidWorks, Fusion, or NX for test-fixture sketches.
Familiarity with ROS2.
Experience with embedded systems and field buses such as CAN or EtherCAT.
Experience with industrial automation equipment including servos, gateways, sensors, or PLCs.
Knowledge of statistical quality control fundamentals such as SPC and MSA.
Experience with actuators, robot manipulators and end-effectors, legged subsystems and balance behaviors, power and battery systems, or full hirify.global robot assemblies.
Culture & Benefits
23 days of accrued annual leave, 15 days of paid sick leave, and paid company holidays.
Fully funded private healthcare for UK employees, including virtual and in-person care and mental health support.
Equity participation and a pension scheme with an 8% total contribution: 5% employee and 3% employer.
Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in the office.
Collaboration with engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics, with freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.
