Industrial Designer (Robotics)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid

Salary: CA$150K–CA$190K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the industrial design of a body-worn capture device, including form factor, ergonomics, wearability, and human factors.
• Define materials, finishes, colors, textures, and surface treatments, carrying the CMF direction through production.
• Explore and iterate concepts through sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, foam, 3D prints, and physical mockups.
• Partner with mechanical, electrical, and embedded/firmware teams to balance aesthetics, ergonomics, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Shenzhen manufacturing partners and refine fit, finish, tooling marks, and cosmetic quality through EVT, DVT, and PVT.
• Work with brand and marketing to maintain a coherent product identity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industrial design experience.
• At least one shipped consumer, wearable, or hardware product.
• Strong concept-to-production skills in sketching, 3D CAD/surfacing, rendering, and physical prototyping.
• Deep CMF knowledge and understanding of injection molding, overmolding, texturing, and finishing for plastics and small assemblies.
• Strong judgment in human factors and ergonomics, especially for worn or handheld devices.
• A portfolio demonstrating craft, form development, and shipped results.

Nice to have

• Experience with body-worn, action-camera, or wearable devices.
• Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers, ideally in China.
