Composites Design Engineering Specialist (Aerospace Structures)

Location: Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Salary: $100,000–$110,000 CAD annually

What you will do

• Design and develop 3D models for primary and secondary composite airframe structures using 3DExperience Composites Part Design.
• Select CPD methodologies based on manufacturing constraints and apply composite material expertise to design decisions.
• Develop flat patterns, tooling definitions, design modifications, and production-release documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, internal and external fabricators, suppliers, and the Supply Chain team.
• Review, validate, and approve designs while following change-control and design-review processes.
• Prepare vendor design packages with drawings, presentations, and neutral-format CAD files.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent mechanical design education.
• 5+ years of composites design experience, preferably in aerospace.
• Mastery of 3D CAD software; 3DExperience or CATIA/ENOVIA preferred.
• Experience with composites, hybrid composite/metallic structures, and associated testing.
• Knowledge of hand lay-up, RTM, prepreg, vacuum bagging, and autoclave manufacturing processes.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to solve complex technical problems independently and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with self-stiffened skins, frame construction, and sandwich skin/frame design.
• Hands-on production or R&D experience.
