TL;DR
Avionics Engineer (Aerospace): Integrating and validating avionics systems for autonomous cargo aircraft with an accent on flight computers, sensors, actuators, communication suites, and aircraft power distribution. Focus on configuring data buses, designing wiring and interconnects, performing hardware-in-the-loop testing, and diagnosing hardware issues during ground and flight testing.

hirify.global develops and operates full-size autonomous cargo aircraft, including the Heron seaplane and Egret STOL aircraft.

What you will do

  • Integrate flight computers, sensors, actuators, and communication systems into cohesive aircraft avionics architectures.
  • Create wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, and system schematics.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CAN, ARINC 429, RS-232/485, and Ethernet data bus architectures.
  • Support electrical load analysis, power distribution, and EMI/EMC mitigation across the airframe.
  • Build test harnesses, breadboard circuits, and perform hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical structures, and flight test teams to diagnose issues during ground and flight testing.

Requirements

  • Experience integrating complex electronic systems on aircraft, UAVs, or high-performance vehicles.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and harness design tools such as Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, or Capital.
  • Understanding of basic circuit theory and experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Ability to assess how sensor sample-rate changes affect flight controllers and pilot displays.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to non-electrical teammates.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with DO-160, DO-178, or DO-254 standards.
  • Experience integrating antennas, GPS, or telemetry links.
  • Python or C/C++ experience for test automation or flight-data parsing.
  • Experience producing quick-turn boards for breakout boxes or signal conditioning.
  • Private pilot license or Part 107 UAV certification.
