Spacecraft Avionics Systems Engineer (Avionics)

Salary: $131,000–$184,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and requirements with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding systems from concept through production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets covering power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass.
• Analyze faults and risks, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR and operational workarounds.
• Plan and conduct avionics verification on flight and hardware-in-the-loop hardware for launch, space, and reentry missions.
• Support mission operations, determine system health, recommend corrective actions, and establish reentry commit criteria.
• Integrate Winnebago avionics, build HITL testbeds, develop ground infrastructure, and improve test automation and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.
• Must work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.
• U.S. work authorization is required; hirify.global participates in E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience setting up HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and conducting system-level tests.
• Unix and command-line experience, test-case development, and test-equipment design.
• Project or program management experience.
• Background in avionics hardware, FPGA engineering, electronics test engineering, or electrical systems engineering.
