Avionics Hardware Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as U.S. persons for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: Engineer I: $105,000–$139,466 per year; Engineer II: $119,543–$152,749 per year.

What you will do

• Develop mixed-signal avionics designs through requirements definition, design, qualification, and production release.
• Design electrical circuit boards and support avionics architecture studies, device selection, performance analysis, and roadmap planning.
• Perform design-for-test, manufacturability, cost, risk, and root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate on mechanical fit, form, and function for avionics hardware.
• Test hardware through thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMI environments.
• Write vehicle-level integration test plans and develop mitigations for flight risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of direct electronics hardware design experience, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up.
• Experience designing flight hardware circuit boards from schematic capture through functional testing.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
• Knowledge of analog and digital filtering, mixed-signal design, signal integrity, power, grounding, and board layout.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or another scripting and data-analysis language, plus sensor and actuator technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering flight avionics for aircraft, launch vehicles, or space applications.
• Altium Designer schematic and layout experience.
• Experience with vibration, shock, thermal, and TVAC testing.
• Launch vehicle avionics integration experience.
• Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, serial devices, accelerometers, and sensor interfaces.
