Systems Engineer - Product (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, United States; occasional travel of less than 10% to other company sites.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Develop and manage system requirements for nuclear reactor systems and potentially an associated fuel line.
• Support system architecture development, design, integration, testing, and validation.
• Apply systems engineering lifecycle processes in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Perform trade studies and risk assessments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and licensing deliverables for regulators.
• Assess AI-assisted architecture design and author reports for the Department of Energy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Nice to have

• Experience with MBSE methodologies, SysML/UML, and IBM Rhapsody 10.0.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
• Experience in a relevant industry.
• Familiarity with reviewing work items generated by AI agents such as Claude.
