TL;DR
Stage Fluids Engineer II (Aerospace): Designing, analyzing, modeling, testing, and integrating plumbing and fluid systems for the Neutron launch vehicle with an accent on fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, component selection, and aerospace manufacturability. Focus on predicting system behavior in launch environments, qualifying hardware, reviewing test data, and developing tools for complex fluid-network analysis.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. This U.S. office role is subject to ITAR export-control requirements; candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Base salary: $100,800–$151,200 USD per year, with level and pay determined based on knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

hirify.global is a space company developing rockets, spacecraft, launch sites, and critical aerospace subsystems.

What you will do

  • Design plumbing systems, fluid components, and secondary structures for the Neutron launch vehicle.
  • Analyze and model fluid systems under the harsh and dynamic conditions of launch.
  • Test and qualify fluid systems and components.
  • Manage requirements and integrate fluid hardware into the larger launch vehicle.
  • Review component, system, and vehicle test data to improve future designs.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, structures, mechanical, operations, and flight software teams while developing analysis tools and optimizing launch operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a hardware-rich environment.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Experience selecting and designing around valves, pressure vessels, flex elements, and fittings.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing and additive manufacturing, machining, welding, fluid-system integration, and quality control.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States or obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Four or more years of experience in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
  • Experience with oxygen, methane, or cryogenic systems and fluid-analysis tools such as REFPROP, AMESIM, or GFSSP.
  • Experience building fluid-network solvers in Python or Excel.
  • Experience with ANSYS, NASTRAN, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, mechanical drafting, GD&T, and plumbing and instrumentation diagrams.
  • An advanced degree in a fluid-mechanics-heavy field and experience solving complex engineering problems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on real aerospace hardware and Neutron launch-vehicle missions.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including a company-sponsored HSA option.
  • Three weeks of paid vacation, five sick days, paid holidays, parental leave, disability insurance, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match, employee stock purchase discounts, and equity opportunities.
  • Onsite gym, subsidized EV charging, food and drinks, and additional employee discounts.
