TL;DR
Chemical Engineer (Aerospace): Establishing a new chemical manufacturing facility by specifying, procuring, designing, building, testing, and commissioning chemical process equipment with an accent on process scale-up, unit operations, and safe equipment development. Focus on translating laboratory data into industrial requirements, developing first-principles solutions, and managing engineering risks through commissioning.

Location: On-site in Penrose, Colorado, with a planned shift to Pueblo, Colorado within the next year. Travel up to 15%, including possible overnight travel to the Minden, Louisiana area.

Salary: $75,000–$105,000 USD per year, excluding benefits and bonus.

What you will do

  • Support the establishment of a new chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Translate laboratory data into process requirements and equipment specifications.
  • Procure industrial equipment based on cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
  • Develop and build first-principles equipment solutions with the technician team.
  • Test, refine, and commission equipment for operational use.
  • Support safe equipment development and operation while tracking engineering risks and mitigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline, or 4+ years of chemical engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience taking a process through design, testing, iteration, and scale-up.
  • Experience delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and common chemical manufacturing unit operations.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR requirements and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Two years of chemical engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or six years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with electrochemistry, evaporation, crystallization, dewatering, drying, or powder packaging.
