What you will do

  • Develop, document, and validate control system requirements with multidisciplinary engineering teams and system stakeholders.
  • Translate functional and safety requirements into control logic, hardware specifications, test criteria, and control architectures.
  • Design electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring diagrams for 24VDC control and 480VAC drive power systems.
  • Specify and integrate PLC, HMI, communication hardware, VFDs, servo drives, motion control systems, instrumentation, and field devices.
  • Develop and test modular PLC programs, perform system integration testing, troubleshoot systems, and support commissioning.
  • Prepare technical documentation and support hazard reviews, risk assessments, safety validation, and functional testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control system design.
  • Proficiency with PLC-based systems and experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with 24VDC and 480VAC systems and industrial panel or cabinet design.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and functional safety requirements under IEC 61511.
  • Ability to develop system requirements and translate them into detailed design documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with safety PLCs and interlock logic design.
  • Experience in large scientific facilities or other high-reliability environments.
  • CAD experience, with EPLAN experience considered a significant plus.
