Salary: $110,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do
- Lead conceptual development of manufacturing and test equipment while balancing product specifications, process controls, layout complexity, and lead times.
- Create and approve system architectures and electrical schematics compliant with NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A standards.
- Write, debug, document, and maintain reusable PLC structured-text code across IEC 61131-3 languages.
- Characterize automated processes using data-driven methods such as Cpk and Gage R&R, and contribute to department tools and policies.
- Provide technical leadership, influence cross-functional decisions, identify risks, and propose mitigations.
- Onboard peers and mentor junior engineering staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
- 7+ years of experience as a controls engineer working with complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Mastery of programming and troubleshooting automation controllers in IEC 61131-3 languages.
- Experience with control-reliable safety systems, ANSI/RIA 15.06 and OSHA compliance, and enclosure design standards.
- Ability to collaborate with job shops and external vendors, troubleshoot complex systems, and apply design-for-manufacturability, serviceability, and simplicity principles.
- Ability to work on-site, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, work extended periods standing or sitting, and work occasional nights, weekends, on-call shifts, or travel.
Nice to have
- Experience with Beckhoff or Siemens controls platforms.
- Experience with Ignition SCADA, machine vision, or startup commissioning in greenfield or brownfield environments.
- CAD drafting expertise, particularly AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with rotating machinery, cable winding, soldering, or pipe bending.
