Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Payments)

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and monitor backend services in production.
• Evolve large-scale payment and banking capabilities, including accounts, wallets, balances, payment authorization, card lifecycle management, compliance integrations, and reporting services.
• Develop and maintain Ruby-based core services.
• Translate product requirements into pragmatic, scalable technical solutions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Improve system reliability, observability, performance, and security.
• Lead projects end-to-end, participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and align distributed teams.

Requirements

• Significant experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Strong understanding of software design, distributed systems, and scalable architectures.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with messaging and event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of complex problems, and apply product and business context to technical decisions.
• Fluent or advanced English proficiency at C1–C2 level; clear communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries.
• Experience with compliance, KYC, or financial reporting systems.
• Previous experience working in international and distributed teams.
