TL;DR
Specialist, TOE Vehicle Software & Electrical Engineering (Automotive): Developing and validating vehicle software and electrical engineering systems for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on production integration, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and embedded vehicle networks. Focus on building automated test environments, integrating ECUs and sensors, troubleshooting HW/SW issues, and improving validation reliability in pre-series and production environments.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week onsite. Regular in-person meetings, company events, and occasional travel are required.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Support development, manufacturing, testing, and production integration of vehicle software and electrical engineering systems.
  • Act as the Columbia/Blythewood production-center contact for the Vehicle Software and Electrical Engineering Systems team in Novi.
  • Develop test environments and instrumentation strategies for automated testing and functional integration of distributed vehicle features.
  • Integrate test benches, ECUs, control units, sensors, and actuators across production systems.
  • Validate and troubleshoot simulators, automation solutions, and vehicle systems, identifying hardware and software issues early.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams, suppliers, system architects, function owners, and pre-series teams on validation, design reviews, and production improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience, including 5+ years in mechatronics, electrical engineering, software engineering, and relevant automotive assignments.
  • Extensive experience with automotive systems or mechatronics products in areas such as body, infotainment, drive, or energy.
  • Strong knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink plant and control models, hardware-in-the-loop environments, dSPACE ControlDesk, and AutomationDesk.
  • Experience with embedded systems, electrical systems architecture, A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, and vehicle network tools such as CANalyzer and CANoe.
  • Strong problem-solving, data-analysis, communication, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to manage projects independently within a defined drive-system scope.
