Staff Software Engineer, Design Services (AI)

Location: Remote candidates accepted in select US locations, with a preference for Denver. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Salary: $185,000–$220,000 per year, depending on experience, plus company equity.

What you will do

• Architect AI design experiences for generating and editing room designs, product recommendations, and related quality evaluation systems.
• Lead ambiguous, high-impact initiatives across the 3D and Studio stack, AI agent platform, TypeScript graph layer, and supporting services.
• Define technical direction across multiple teams and product areas through influence and clear writing.
• Modernize the PHP monolith toward the TypeScript graph layer and modern services without slowing product delivery.
• Build internal agent capabilities for engineering work such as error resolution, bug fixes, and feature enhancements.
• Mentor engineers, improve engineering quality, and remain accountable for production systems.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience owning architecture and execution for complex systems across multiple teams or product areas.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals across web, services, data, and infrastructure.
• Experience building or shipping AI-backed product features and evaluating their quality.
• Ability to design evaluation sets and quality baselines and reason about model, data, and latency tradeoffs.
• Experience setting technical direction through influence and clear written communication.
• Current full-time authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D, graphics, rendering, or computer vision.
• Native iOS development with Swift.
• Experience modernizing a monolith toward services or a graph.
