Salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD base pay per year

What you will do

  • Lead mechanical engineering formulation for new satellite systems and business development opportunities.
  • Develop high-performance, lightweight spacecraft bus configurations, structures, mechanisms, and deployment systems.
  • Manage mass and mechanical technical budgets, mechanical requirements, verification methods, and configuration trades.
  • Perform structural, thermal, vibration, packaging, hand-calculation, and FEA analyses, including test planning and data analysis.
  • Own mechanical technical development from conceptual design through production, testing, and operations.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, production drawings, interface specifications, CONOPS, schedules, vendor plans, budgets, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and technical drawing.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • U.S. export-control eligibility may be required for access to ITAR-regulated technology.

Nice to have

  • Active security clearance.
  • Master's or PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Spacecraft design, deployment-system, mechanism, hands-on development, and testing experience.
  • Experience with GD&T, FEA, thermal and vibration test-data interpretation, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, space environments, orbital mechanics, rigid-body dynamics, and systems engineering.
