SBT Content Software Engineer II (Java/AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Salary: CAD 86,000–108,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Design and implement high-performance software solutions for SBT Content and insurance content transformation.
• Build, refactor, and extend cloud services supporting U.S. Commercial insurers.
• Develop microservices and REST or gRPC APIs for large-scale data volumes, heavy server loads, and complex business logic.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot while maintaining engineering standards.
• Write thorough tests and contribute to observability, operational excellence, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate in a small, cross-functional, agile team with software engineers and other colleagues.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of software development experience, preferably with SaaS or cloud solutions.
• Proficiency in Core Java and good working knowledge of the Spring framework.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience building cloud microservices, preferably on AWS, and using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing REST or gRPC APIs and understanding object-oriented design and relational database persistence.
• Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools with sound judgment regarding code quality, testing, and security.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps principles, TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with LLMs, LangChain, RAG, ReAct, prompt engineering, or integrating AI services into production systems.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
