Senior Software Engineer, Progress ABL

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work model

Salary: CAD 110,000–135,000 per year

What you will do

• Take ownership of project deliveries through effective cross-team collaboration.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Optimize existing Progress ABL code for performance, maintainability, and reliability.
• Lead code reviews, enforce development standards, and mentor developers at all experience levels.
• Provide timely resource and project updates as a primary point of contact.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with Progress ABL and OpenEdge technologies, including AppServer, WebSpeed, or PAS for OpenEdge.
• Experience with Progress Character UI in Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience processing XML and JSON in conjunction with REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git, SDLC processes, Agile/SCRUM, and release/change management.
• Strong adherence to development standards and industry best practices.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and the ability to provide a valid work or study permit where applicable.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, and SharePoint.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and automation concepts.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code.
