Chief Engineer (Solid Rocket Propulsion)

Location: Folsom, CA; Reno, NV; Huntsville, AL; Long Beach, CA; or Remote within the United States. Travel up to 25% may be required, including overnight travel to company sites or external test facilities.

Salary: $195,000–$250,000 USD annual base salary, depending on experience, skills, and location.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end technical execution and mission success for solid rocket propulsion system programs.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams through design reviews, qualification milestones, and the full technical lifecycle.
• Manage critical-path execution, resource conflicts, task span-times, and alternative execution strategies to achieve program milestones.
• Establish and maintain lean technical scope baselines while monitoring cost performance and challenging budget changes.
• Serve as the primary technical spokesperson for internal and external stakeholders, presenting program materials and technical alternatives.
• Ensure systems are producible, compliant with technical data requirements, and aligned with cost and schedule constraints.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 15 years of engineering experience, including 5+ years of technical leadership in solid rocket motors.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams through rigorous design reviews and qualification milestones.
• Ability to manage technical scope, cost performance, schedules, stakeholder relationships, and customer requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• At least four years leading controllable solid rocket propulsion projects with multidisciplinary teams of 10 or more people.
• Current DoD Secret Security clearance.
