Staff Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Onsite in Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; up to 10% travel to client and customer locations may be required.

Salary: $125,000–$171,600 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Conceptualize, prototype, analyze, design, validate, and commercially release complex electromechanical systems and robotic work cells.
• Develop feasibility analyses, quantitative trade studies, mechanical analyses, tolerance analyses, drawings, BOMs, and engineering change notices.
• Research and validate components such as motors, sensors, and bearings from external suppliers.
• Define test protocols, write test plans, assemble prototypes, troubleshoot systems, and implement design changes.
• Provide technical direction to external design partners and suppliers, lead design reviews, and coordinate with EE/Controls, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and product owners.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to program plans and milestone schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Full proficiency with SolidWorks and experience with FEA using SolidWorks Simulation and/or Ansys.
• Experience designing parts for machining, casting, sheet metal, plastics, and fabricated assemblies.
• Hands-on mechanical intuition, prototyping ability, strong communication skills, initiative, and independent judgment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive and/or fly to client and customer locations.

Nice to have

• Industrial robotics, automation, and material handling experience.
