TL;DR
Manager, TOE (Automotive Manufacturing): Leading Technical Office of Engineering teams responsible for vehicle industrialization, engineering change management, quality problem solving, launch support, and supplier coordination with an accent on manufacturing feasibility, component maturity, and production readiness. Focus on developing engineers, resolving build issues, optimizing cost and efficiency, and aligning technical plans with production milestones.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week onsite. Domestic travel is required approximately 20% of the time.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, hire, and develop engineers in the Technical Office of Engineering supporting R&D at the Blythewood Production Center.
  • Plan workloads, resources, team development, and long-term engineering strategies aligned with program milestones.
  • Industrialize new models by adapting designs for manufacturing and optimizing production processes and workflows.
  • Manage engineering changes, production-impact evaluations, plant implementation, build documentation, and issue communication.
  • Support quality assurance, root-cause analysis, supplier and component problem solving, testing, validation, pre-series builds, and production ramp-up.
  • Drive cost and efficiency improvements through value engineering, scrap reduction, rework reduction, and cross-functional program risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of automotive engineering or manufacturing experience within an OEM or Tier-1 supplier.
  • 4+ years in a management role with direct reports and prior experience leading engineers or technical teams.
  • Experience developing components from concept through production release.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, supplier management, design reviews, PPAP, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Proficiency with CAD systems such as CATIA, Teamcenter, or similar, along with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
