Engineering Technical Lead – Engineering Triage

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site

Salary: $170,000–$210,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering triage function across embedded firmware, mobile apps, cloud services, and connected vehicle systems.
• Own issue intake, prioritization, investigation, assignment, escalation, and closure.
• Drive cross-functional root cause analysis across firmware, mobile, cloud infrastructure, backend services, APIs, connectivity, and hardware/software interactions.
• Coordinate triage reviews with Firmware, Mobile, Cloud, Systems Engineering, Product, Support, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and Program Management.
• Build dashboards and metrics for issue aging, defect trends, release quality, customer impact, and engineering throughput.
• Improve observability and create tooling for logging, diagnostics, telemetry, crash reporting, remote debugging, issue tracking, and defect reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience developing or validating embedded software, mobile applications, or cloud services.
• Experience leading investigations across embedded firmware, mobile apps, cloud platforms, and connected devices.
• Strong knowledge of embedded and distributed architectures, MCU/ECU, RTOS, Linux-based systems, OTA firmware updates, hardware/software interfaces, and board-level debugging.
• Experience with Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, GNSS, MQTT, REST APIs, cloud-native architectures, backend services, telemetry pipelines, and observability platforms.
• Programming or scripting experience in C/C++, Python, or similar, plus CI/CD and release management experience across firmware, mobile, and cloud.

Nice to have

• Automotive experience, including CAN protocol debugging tools, DBCs, power management, fault management, DTCs, UDS, and telemetry data.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab, JTAG, I2C, SPI, serial consoles, logic analyzers, or oscilloscopes.
