Fluids and Propulsion Production Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and scaling spacecraft propulsion and fluid-system manufacturing processes with an accent on assembly, integration, testing, and production support. Focus on resolving hardware non-compliances, improving manufacturing reliability, and coordinating manufacturability feedback for spaceflight systems.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; hybrid work with some work required onsite

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 for Production Engineer 1, $100,000–$120,000 for Production Engineer 2, or $125,000–$155,000 for Production Engineer 3 per year

What you will do

  • Set up and scale manufacturing capabilities for spacecraft propulsion and fluid systems across development programs and rate production.
  • Develop work instructions for assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion subsystems, fluid subsystems, ground support equipment, and tooling.
  • Support production-floor activities, resolve bottlenecks, and troubleshoot technical issues affecting propulsion and fluid hardware.
  • Generate and resolve non-compliance reports, perform root-cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee calibration and certification of fluid ground support equipment.
  • Collaborate with design engineering on manufacturability, drawings, process flows, and test specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant experience in propulsion or fluid-systems engineering for aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Experience with PLM, MES, configuration management, and data management systems.
  • Experience working with AS9100 processes and standards.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating, assembling, and testing propulsion or fluid-system components.
  • Must be eligible under U.S. ITAR requirements as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or holder of the required U.S. authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing, manufacturing, and testing propulsion components such as thrusters, valves, tanks, feed systems, or environmental control units.
  • Spacecraft or launch-vehicle integration experience focused on fluid and propellant systems.
  • Spacecraft or propulsion-system environmental or qualification-testing experience.
  • Experience producing classified hardware in SCIFs or SAP facilities.
