Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Machine Design

Location: Rochester, NY, United States. Occasional travel to client sites, fabrication shops, or project locations may be required, up to 25%.

Salary: $94,000–$141,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Lead planning, coordination, and execution of major machine design and multidisciplinary projects.
• Manage engineering, scheduling, budgeting, resources, proposals, cost estimates, and project risks.
• Design custom automation equipment, tooling, robotics, servos, and sensing systems using SolidWorks.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, engineering calculations, design standards, and drawing packages.
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and business development activities.
• Lead HSE initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and guide project design teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of machine design experience involving industrial automation, custom tooling, robotics, servos, and sensing equipment.
• 8+ years of hands-on SolidWorks experience in 3D modeling and design documentation.
• Experience leading complex multidisciplinary projects from concept through completion.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, project management methodologies, technical standards, PFDs, and P&IDs.
• Strong analytical, communication, client relationship, mentoring, and safety skills, including alignment with OSHA regulations; proficiency with Microsoft Project and Deltek Vision.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or eligibility.
• Experience with SolidWorks FEA and CFD tools.
• Business development and proposal development experience.
