Test Manager (Space)

Location: Full-time onsite in San Diego, California, United States. Applicants must be US persons and able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 USD base salary per year, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the engineering team and allocate resources across projects.
• Design, schedule, and execute functional performance and environmental test architectures for space-rated components.
• Develop and track test procedures, plans, schedules, and documentation, and report test results.
• Test complex PCBAs and develop new test architectures, including TVAC, thermal, EMI/EMC, vibration, and shock testing.
• Provide technical guidance, review engineering work, resolve issues, and support design and development reviews.
• Coordinate with product managers, designers, other managers, contractors, and stakeholders on technical feasibility, proposals, and project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of test engineering experience with demonstrated technical expertise.
• Expert-level configuration of ATE components, rack instrumentation, and PXI architectures.
• Experience developing test automation software with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Python, C#, or Visual Basic.
• Experience with space-environment testing, including TVAC, thermal, shock, and vibration tests; test equipment; and spectrum or vector network analyzers.
• Must be a US person and able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and collaborative leadership skills are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SolidWorks and mechanical concepts for bed-of-nails test fixture design and construction.
• Experience testing RF devices in the S, X, and Ka bands.
• Experience in the space industry with space-rated components.
• Exposure to optics and laser communication technologies.
