CAD Technician (Marine Offshore)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; offices, lab, and shop are located in Portland

Salary: $90,000–$140,000 per year, plus company equity

What you will do

• Develop and maintain 3D CAD component models and large-scale mechanical assemblies in Siemens NX.
• Create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for complex, safety-critical welded steel structures and subassemblies.
• Integrate design data into Siemens Teamcenter PLM and manage accurate engineering releases.
• Collaborate with structural analysts, manufacturing teams, and shop floor technicians to improve manufacturability and marine serviceability.
• Drive ECR/ECO releases, maintain configuration discipline, and keep engineering definition aligned with built hardware.
• Establish drawing, modeling, template, and common-detail standards.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of relevant professional CAD experience in a similarly complex industry.
• Extensive experience with Siemens NX.
• Knowledge of engineering standards such as ASME Y14.100.
• Experience detailing and documenting metallic structures, load paths, and large-scale welded assemblies.
• High attention to detail and a meticulous approach to technical documentation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Familiarity with marine or offshore engineering and corrosion-conscious seawater detailing.
• Exposure to AWS D1.1, DNV, ABS, or ASME BPVC standards.
• Experience releasing welded fabrication packages with weld symbols, inspection callouts, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working directly with fabrication shops and incorporating build feedback into drawings.
