Senior Engineer, Equipment Engineering (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia; travel to offshore locations is required to support the role.

What you will do

• Own media sputter deposition tool hardware design, equipment reconfiguration, installation, qualification testing, and tool or hardware buy-off.
• Define specifications, technical requirements, drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, installation resources, equipment capabilities, and maintenance requirements.
• Coordinate with Process Engineering, NPI/Pilot Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, vendors, technicians, and other support teams.
• Investigate equipment downtime, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve reliability, throughput, process capability, and maintenance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair down tools while supporting escalation calls and leading recovery activities.
• Provide technical documentation, training, and knowledge transfer for tool installation, reconfiguration, expansion, operation, and maintenance.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in media deposition and/or semiconductor manufacturing equipment design, operation, installation, and sustaining.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering or physical science discipline.
• Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD design, geometric tolerancing, equipment troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication, technical writing, project management, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technicians and transfer technical knowledge and work instructions clearly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice to have

• Mechanical tooling, machine design, or automation design experience.
• Knowledge of high-vacuum technology and plasma physics.
