Senior Engineer, Failure Analysis Engineering

What you will do

• Conduct and supervise failure analysis for production and new product introduction samples.
• Perform trend analysis, defect characterization, reporting, and quarterly defect pareto analysis.
• Manage and mentor technicians conducting media failure analysis with first-level equipment.
• Coordinate second-level investigations with analytical laboratory teams.
• Collaborate with yield, defect, process, quality control, and analytical teams to improve yield and product quality.
• Drive defect unification, methodology improvements, defect library maintenance, experiments, and simulations to understand defect formation mechanisms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with failure analysis equipment including optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Zygo, and OSA.
• Experience with analytical tools such as SEM-EDX, FIB-SEM, Raman spectroscopy, ESCA, and TOF-SIMS.
• Understanding of defect characterization, failure mode analysis, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
• Experience with test databases, FA database systems, and data visualization tools such as Spotfire.

Nice to have

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and conduct experiments and simulations.
• Familiarity with IT enhancement projects related to failure analysis databases.
