Hardware Engineer (Enterprise Storage)

Location: Onsite in Santa Clara, California, United States

Salary: $149,000–$224,000 USD annual base salary; may also include incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Design high-performance hardware systems, including schematics and complex PCB layouts with a focus on signal integrity.
• Define, execute, and automate subsystem validation and qualification plans for CPU, DDR memory, PCIe, and Ethernet interfaces.
• Collaborate with operations, manufacturing test teams, and external JDM partners to transition storage subsystems into high-volume production.
• Perform failure analysis and root-cause investigations during system hardening and customer escalations.
• Convert technical findings into actionable hardware and system design improvements.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of x86 architecture, schematic capture, high-speed PCB layout rules, and bus protocols including PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, I2C, and SPI.
• Experience validating hardware at electrical, protocol, and functional levels using oscilloscopes and bus analyzers.
• Experience working in Linux environments and writing Python or Bash scripts for automated hardware qualification and stress testing.
• Ability to analyze complex data, isolate hardware failure root causes, and resolve technical issues.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams.
• Expected to work from the Santa Clara, California office, except during PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
