Manager, Build Reliability Engineering (Aerospace)

Salary: $128,000–$192,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Manage and develop a team of Build Reliability Engineers, including priorities, technical reviews, hiring, coaching, and career development.
• Lead failure analysis for critical manufacturing and field failures using Fault Tree processes, and validate corrective and preventive actions.
• Integrate FMEA and predictive modeling into early-stage designs to identify and mitigate production risks.
• Partner with NPI, Supply Chain, Operations, design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams to resolve reliability and supplier-quality issues.
• Define and maintain reliability KPIs, including MTBF, escapes to next operations, and first-pass yield.
• Lead risk escalation using methods such as 8D and scale reliability processes and staffing for higher-rate Terran R production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in Build Reliability, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline, including 2+ years of direct people management in a high-reliability industry.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience with tooling, processes, and build constraints.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional programs from scope definition through execution.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FAIRs, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Ability to build processes and teams from the ground up and earn trust with engineering and manufacturing partners.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or PMP certification.
• Experience with high-volume inspection methods, data-driven acceptance criteria, PLM, ERP, MES, or data analysis.
• Comfort operating in high-ambiguity environments with incomplete precedent or data.
