Staff Software Engineer (GI)

Location: Hybrid, based in the San Francisco office; in-person attendance required three days per week. Remote days follow core business hours. Occasional off-site or on-site events may occur.

Annual salary: $197,000–$296,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and build a new gastrointestinal care product from scratch, including prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and a minimum lovable product.
• Set the technical roadmap across React Native experiences, backend services, AI systems, business logic, hardware integration, and clinical support workflows.
• Develop production software across the stack and solve the most challenging technical problems in the product roadmap.
• Run A/B and multivariate experiments, interpret results, and use member feedback and product metrics to guide iterations.
• Establish engineering practices for CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, observability, reliability, accessibility, and performance.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and data partners across San Francisco, Montreal, and Bangalore.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of practical software engineering experience building and shipping user-facing production applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or foreign equivalent.
• At least 2 years of hands-on React Native experience building mobile applications at scale.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and React Native skills, with experience in large codebases and modern mobile development tooling.
• Experience with TypeScript/Node, Go, GraphQL, AWS services, client performance optimization, DevOps, and application architecture patterns.
• Experience with consumer applications at significant scale, experimentation, mentoring, cross-platform product integration, and healthcare, HIPAA, or another regulated environment involving sensitive data.
