Head of Legal (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, based in London, New York, or Toronto; candidates must have the right to work in the jurisdiction where they work.

What you will do

• Develop and execute the global legal strategy in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Advise the CEO, executive leadership, Board, and cross-functional teams on governance, commercial contracts, data protection, intellectual property, litigation, and regulatory matters.
• Manage corporate governance processes, Board support, subsidiary management, and company secretarial duties.
• Negotiate and draft supplier, customer, partnership, and licensing agreements.
• Support market expansion, M&A, fundraising, due diligence, and transaction execution.
• Build, lead, and mentor the in-house legal function while coordinating external counsel.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with 5+ years of post-qualification experience as a Head of Legal.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services.
• Ability to operate across multiple jurisdictions and manage complex regulatory challenges.
• Strong commercial judgment and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience building and scaling a legal function.
• Right to work in the chosen jurisdiction: the United Kingdom, United States, or Canada.
