Legal Counsel (U.S.) (Fintech)

What you will do

• Advise product and engineering teams on the legal and regulatory aspects of payment and banking product design, development, and launch.
• Partner with business and compliance teams on licensing and market-entry strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
• Provide guidance on payments, money transmission, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange, and cross-border transaction regulations.
• Support corporate governance, board matters, employment, privacy, intellectual property, fundraising, strategic transactions, and other general legal matters.
• Advise leadership, product, engineering, compliance, and growth teams while managing external counsel and consultants.
• Build scalable legal processes and frameworks and contribute to a collaborative legal function.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and bar membership in good standing.
• 7+ years of legal experience, including significant fintech or financial services experience; 15+ years for senior Counsel level.
• Strong knowledge of financial services and payments regulations.
• Experience providing practical, business-oriented advice and balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
• Experience collaborating with product, engineering, compliance, and business teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, project management, and prioritization skills.

• Experience with cryptocurrency or Banking as a Service products.
