Focus on leading technician activities, supporting energetic test articles, resolving process issues, and maintaining traceable production documentation in a high-hazard manufacturing environment.
Location: Onsite in Penrose, Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado. Second shift runs Monday–Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. MDT; training requires 30–45 days on first shift.
Salary: $35.44 per hour on second shift, including the 12.5% shift differential. Training is paid at $31.50 per hour on first shift.

What you will do
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized mixing, molding, extrusion, and curing equipment for propellant and explosive formulations.
- Lead assembly of rocket propulsion subsystems integrating mechanical, electrical, and energetic components.
- Train and guide Technicians I, operators, and other personnel on procedures, safety protocols, and technical tasks.
- Read engineering drawings and specifications, conduct in-process inspections, and support root-cause analysis for nonconformances.
- Support engineering projects involving the safe loading, wiring, and monitoring of energetic test articles.
- Maintain batch records, production documentation, and quality paperwork while directing daily activities in assigned work areas.
Requirements
- Must be able to work onsite in Penrose or Pueblo, Colorado, and work the required second shift.
- Three to five years of manufacturing experience, preferably in energetics, aerospace, or defense, with demonstrated experience in energetic materials processing or rocket motor assembly.
- Understanding of explosive safety and energetic material handling; ability to work in a high-hazard environment and follow PPE and site safety requirements.
- Experience with precision measurement, assembly, process control, blueprints, schematics, technical instructions, documentation, and root-cause analysis.
- High school diploma or equivalent; ability to work independently and communicate effectively across engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations.
- Must be at least 21, pass drug and background checks, obtain required explosives licenses, and qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR requirements.
Nice to have
- Forklift, hoist, or pressure-vessel operation experience.
- Experience with automated manufacturing systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Technical training or an associate degree.
