Senior Member of Technical Staff (AI)

Location: In-person at 1 Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA 02139, United States

Salary: $280,000–$375,000 base annually, plus bonus and equity commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Set and drive the technical roadmap and execution strategy in partnership with the CTO.
• Build, scale, and lead high-performing engineering teams and leadership benches.
• Make architecture and technology decisions for a reliable, secure, performant platform.
• Establish engineering rigor across code quality, CI/CD, testing, incident response, and on-call operations.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
• Represent engineering in company-wide strategic planning and Board-level updates.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams at high-growth technology companies.
• Deep expertise in modern software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience managing engineering managers and developing leadership benches.
• Strong track record of shipping complex software products on predictable timelines.
• Excellent executive and Board-level communication skills, with the ability to balance technical depth and strategic business thinking.

Nice to have

• Experience at an AI/ML or developer tools company.
• Background in autonomous systems, agentic AI, or large-scale code generation platforms.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations through hypergrowth from Series A to Series C+.
• Experience with enterprise-grade security, compliance, and reliability requirements.
• MBA or equivalent business acumen alongside deep technical expertise.
