Focus on designing and commissioning custom tooling, incorporating shop-floor lessons into future designs, and tracking inventory, test results, and manufacturing milestones.
Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; on-site
Salary: $25 per hour

What you will do
- Generate and update manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and quality criteria for HTS magnet assembly.
- Support the design, prototyping, and commissioning of custom manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Collaborate with magnet designers and manufacturing engineers to incorporate shop-floor lessons learned into future designs.
- Manage virtual and physical inventory, organize assembly areas, and update manufacturing BOMs.
- Assist with hardware procurement, evaluate vendor specifications, and verify incoming part quality.
- Track production metrics, test results, and progress against critical program milestones.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science, or a related technical field.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and spatial mechanics; GD&T exposure is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing mechanical or electrical hardware through projects such as Formula SAE, rocketry, or robotics.
- Experience with fabrication or assembly processes, including machining, fastened or bonded assemblies, and soldering.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX, plus the ability to solve multidisciplinary engineering problems.
- Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and work around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
