TL;DR
Energetics Technician II (Aerospace): Supporting the production of propellants, explosives, and rocket propulsion subsystems with an accent on specialized equipment operation, energetic material handling, and safety-critical assembly. Focus on troubleshooting mixing, molding, extrusion, and curing processes, leading subsystem integration, and maintaining quality and regulatory documentation in a high-hazard manufacturing environment.

Location: Onsite in Penrose, Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be a U.S. Person eligible to work under ITAR and EAR export regulations and obtain required state and federal explosives licenses.

Salary: $31.50 per hour base pay.

What you will do

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized equipment for propellant and explosive formulations.
  • Lead assembly of rocket propulsion subsystems integrating mechanical, electrical, and energetic components.
  • Train operators and Technician I employees on procedures, safety protocols, and technical tasks.
  • Read engineering drawings and specifications to support accurate builds.
  • Conduct in-process inspections, support root cause analysis, and maintain batch, production, and quality records.
  • Support engineering tests involving the safe loading, wiring, and monitoring of energetic test articles.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in energetics, aerospace, or defense.
  • Demonstrated experience with energetic material processing or rocket motor assembly.
  • Understanding of explosive safety, energetic material handling, precision measurement, and process control.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training is preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, pass drug testing and background checks, obtain state and federal explosives licenses, and meet U.S. Person export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Forklift, hoist, or pressure-vessel operation experience.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma.
  • Experience solving complex problems independently with minimal supervision.
