Engineering Technician (Data Center Cooling)

Location: Fully onsite in Christiansburg, Virginia, United States

Salary: $22.00–$28.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support the design engineering team with test setup, execution, qualification testing, and documentation for data center cooling prototypes and pre-production designs.
• Wire industrial control panels, connect instrumentation, configure PLCs and test rigs, and execute predefined test procedures.
• Collect test data using oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, Python scripts, or LabVIEW routines, then prepare concise reports.
• Calibrate sensors, meters, and test fixtures and maintain spare-parts and tool inventories.
• Assemble and solder PCB components and wiring harnesses for rapid prototyping.
• Assist with basic electrical and mechanical repairs and support the training and cross-training of colleagues.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Industrial Controls, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in one or more relevant areas, including electrical or mechanical drawing interpretation, instrumentation, PLC programming, data analysis, soldering, PCB assembly, or industrial panel wiring.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, signal measurements, data-logging hardware or software, calibration practices, or test equipment maintenance.
• Ability to write reports, document results, and use a personal computer and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work fully onsite in a climate-controlled laboratory in Christiansburg, Virginia.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, wear required PPE, work overtime when needed, and travel less than 10%.
