Staff Backend Engineer (Applications)

What you will do

• Design and evolve backend services that power customer-facing product workflows.
• Architect data models for hierarchical structures, graph-like relationships, and large-scale enterprise datasets.
• Drive architectural decisions balancing extensibility, performance, reliability, and operational simplicity.
• Improve observability, testing strategy, scalability, and production reliability across backend services.
• Partner with Product to translate complex business requirements into clean, scalable designs.
• Mentor engineers and raise backend engineering standards through technical leadership and design guidance.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing and building complex backend systems in production.
• Production-grade experience with at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or C#.
• Strong knowledge of relational schema design, data modelling, and SQL.
• Experience with hierarchical, graph-like, or relationship-heavy data structures.
• Track record of improving scalability, reliability, and observability in distributed or data-intensive systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence architecture and product direction.

Nice to have

• Experience building SaaS products for mid-market or enterprise customers.
• Experience with rule-driven systems, validation workflows, or approval and governance platforms.
• Familiarity with graph databases or graph-based modelling.
• Familiarity with AWS-based infrastructure and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to Sales Performance Management, RevOps, Incentive Compensation, or related domains.
