Senior Software Engineer (Backend Development)

What you will do

• Own sizable engineering projects and backend services.
• Design scalable and performant backend architectures and provide technical guidance.
• Develop and operate reliable, maintainable service-based software and platform components.
• Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and facilitate agile collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Improve observability, incident management, DevOps practices, and production operational procedures.
• Profile and tune critical components, contribute to technical and product ideas, and participate in backend on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and facilitating agile processes.
• Ability to build web services on Linux.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Scala, Go, Java, or C++.
• Knowledge of REST or GraphQL API design, SQL or NoSQL databases, Git, and at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proactive approach, strong interpersonal skills, and problem-solving ability.

Nice to have

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Technical leadership experience and expertise with profiling and debugging tools.
• Experience with high-performance network services on Linux and large-scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of distributed algorithms, data structures, and data-intensive application design.
• Experience with Nginx, HAProxy, Ansible, CI/CD, Prometheus, Nagios, functional programming, or web frontend and JavaScript.
