Senior Software Engineer, Backend Development (AI)

What you will do

• Own sizable engineering projects and backend services.
• Design scalable, performant, reliable, and maintainable backend architectures and service-based software.
• Lead system design, code reviews, technical initiatives, and technical guidance for engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate agile collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Improve observability, incident management, DevOps practices, and production operating procedures.
• Profile and tune critical components and participate in the backend on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and facilitating agile processes.
• Ability to build web services on Linux.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Scala, Go, Java, or C++.
• Knowledge of REST or GraphQL network API design and SQL or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Familiarity with Git and at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Nice to have

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with technical leadership, profiling and debugging tools, high-performance Linux network services, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of distributed algorithms, data structures, functional programming, or data-intensive application design.
• Experience with Nginx, HAProxy, Ansible, CI/CD, Prometheus, Nagios, web frontend, or JavaScript.
